I'm SEW excited challenge!

This has been a very long weekend for us. DH was off work on Friday, and today, Monday, is also a holiday - Labour day, I think. This means little scrapbooking for me. On Friday we had lots of errands to run, on Saturday we travelled to the south of the island to see the mud volcanoes, and some other great places (so many pics, I'll never ever get to scrap half of them!!!!), and yesterday we had friends over to celebrate Father's day with a BBQ and swimming pool afternoon. Not that I'm complaining, I've had a great weekend, but I have had a sketch and pics printed since Thursday and only finished it this morning! I started working with Sketch Inspiration's sketch 224, and printed three photos for my sister's wedding album. They are photos of the dresses she tried on but didn't finally choose, and I loved the idea of including them in the album. I had bought a dress sticker especially for this page, but once I saw the photos, I knew I couldn't give them a formal look, so I had to look for something different. Then I saw the challenge at Moxie Fab World, to include sewing icons in a project, and I knew that would be just right for my page. So here is the final result, a little hard to photograph as the paper is very thin and the humidity outside makes it so soft it was hard to set it straight for the photo.

For the mannequin, I used the shape from an old Bo-bunny chipboard sheet as a stencil and painted it with acrylic. I wanted to give some texture to the acrylic, so I played a little with the paintbrush.

The other icons are from a set of charms at the Silhouette store. I printed one on cardstock and added paint and rose trim, I used one as a stencil to paint with acrylic on the paper, and I cut the other two in shrink plastic, though I didn't shrink it. I also stitched some swirls like the sketch showed.

I woke up in a very scrappy mood today, so I hope I can continue working on some of my DT projects for this week (DD and DH are in the pool right now, so that should give me some time!). I need to work on a Wordworld pinata for DD's birthday in the afternoon!!!

Cute, cute clouds!

The rainy season is back here in Trinidad (though it rained almost every day during the dry season!!!!) and the clouds are all over us. I'm still amazed at this tropical weather, so I don't complain about it (let's see what I think after the rainy season, in October). My card for this week's sketch at Let's Scrap reflects the cloudy weather and the feeling of happiness it gives me:

Pages using lots of blue

Practical Scrappers is featuring projects using lots of blue today. I looked through my sister's wedding pics to find those I could use with that colour and I found some pics that were taken with her friends while she was waiting for the ceremony to begin. The note reads: "Waiting is easier when you are in good company".

I got to use my new and gorgeous butterfly corner punch that arrived in the mail while I was away, together with 5 other yummy punches. I also made pattern paper flowers. Pattern paper is one of my favourite materials at the moment, so when I saw the circles in the patterned paper I decided to place these flowers on top. I made them with pattern paper circles of three different sizes and a brad, and then crinkled the paper.

Another page added to the album, a lot more to come!!!! If you want to see lots of other projects using blue, check Practical Scrappers today.

I'm back!!!

I'm back, we've taken a couple of weeks away from home to relax and enjoy lots of family time together. Now, I'm just trying to catch up with lots of scrapbooking stuff I'm behind with, plus the washing and the tidying-up (just taking things from the suitcases took me the whole day yesterday!!!!). DD has finished her school year, so she needs me to give her some playing time as well! I can't wait to scrap, though, so I'll be posting something soon.
