Frugal finds: flower embellishment using a mesh bag!

I love the Frugal Finds feature at Practical Scrappers, it is always play time and creative time, and the results are amazing! For the latest feature we had to use mesh bags and that was an easy one for me, as lots of the produce I can find here comes in mesh bags. For this layout I chose baby pics -probably the fact that my little girl is growing so fast and her front teeth are loose (yet another milestone) influenced the choice of pics for this layout. 

I love playing with this piece of JBS cardstock and my light blue inks. But the layout needed a girly touch, so I used my mesh to create a flower. It was a bit tricky and I needed the help of the glue gun, but I love how it turned out, especially with that piece of Teresa Collins bling on top. You really MUST check what the other Practical Scrappers designers have created using mesh bags, I promise you will not look at the produce aisle in the same way again!

I am also sharing this project at Scrapscene's WIP Mondays, as I love having my mid-morning coffee and checking what other people are doing. And what exactly am I working on right now? 

A Tortuga Headquarters Pinata!!! It's not exactly a beautiful project right now, but it will be!!!! I will keep you posted on how it goes!

Nurses' Day Card

DD has the most amazing school nurse. She can patch anything up and make anybody feel good in a few minutes. And if she can't, she'll get mom or dad to school immediately. Who wouldn't love her? I know DD loves visiting her so she volunteers to take anybody in her class who needs a band aid or has any other problem to her office. She also gets her t-shirts wet because she knows the teacher will send her to see "nursey" and get a dry one. I've just found out the International Nurses Week is this week, so I have made a card for her. DD will choose a present, sign the card, probably add a picture, and take it to school to give it to "nursey". Here is my card:

Another double pager!

Yes, another double pager this week! This one is based on Let's Scrap sketch 4-27-11. I started working with Studio Calico State Fair's papers in mind, so I created this background with heat embossed numbers and letters. Then, on one of the trips to my scraproom (I was scrapping with DD in the living room), I found these Twig embellies and loved them, so it ended up being a different layout. Not sure I like the background for these embellies, but everything was glued and I didn't want to fussy cut everything to glue it on another background.

I created another notebook for this week's reveal at Let's Scrap. I can't help it, they look so cute that I think of them every time I see a sketch! I also used glitter+embossing powders on this one, love that combination!

Ribbon flowers at Let's Scrap

This week's DT Challenge at Let's Scrap was to create a card or LO using three different kinds of handmade flowers. What a fun challenge to work on. I decided to create three very different ribbon flowers, and this is the result:

I think it's the kind of card that could make any day brighter!

Handmade Flowers at Practical Scrappers

The feature today at Practical Scrappers is handmade flowers. We've already had medallion flowers and rolled flowers so I needed to try sth else. I wanted to give a try to some vintage dressmaker patterns I got with my JBS kit, so that's what I used for the flower, topped with a BoBunny Olivia Chipboard element and accompanied by leaves from the same set.

I used the flower in a card.

I don't like fact that the stamp is too high, but could do nothing about it once it was stamped, just colour the letters darker!

Flowery rainbow clipboard

It's rainbow day at Practical Scrappers, so I have created a rainbow full of flowers to decorate a clipboard. I couldn't have done this without my Silhouette!!!!

I couldn't resist the temptation of taking a close-up pic of the flowers, so much texture in there!

I am hoping to participate in Eva's Butterfly Blog Linky Party, but I'm not sure I'll make it... I find it hard to make scrapping time on weekends!

Flowers, flowers, and more flowers at Practical Scrappers

The challenge at Practical Scrappers this week was to use flowers, and I decided to get rid of some flowers I have had in my stash for a long time and have not used yet. I added some new ones, too, just because I couldn't resist the temptation to use them! I couldn't put them all together in a layout, as they were too different, so instead I used them to embellish altered clips/photo holders.

And I couldn't stop there, I had to alter the whole pack of clips, so I used robots, monsters and butterflies as well:

I sold them at the crafts fair and not only did they sell very quickly, they also caught people's eye and made them stop at the stand, so then they looked at other things like cards and minialbums. A very good result!
