I have already created layouts and a handbag box with my box of supplies from Scrapbook Supplies Online, so now it was time for cards. I had a neck spasm last Friday and couldn't get the meds I needed till Monday, so it took long to feel better. I had a great massage yesterday and now I feel like new, but I haven't scrapped much, as I couldn't sit for long without feeling my head weighed a ton!

For my first card I wanted to use a "flourish with a bling" that I got with my design materials. It is made by an Australian company, and it looks so lovely I had to make it the centre of my card. I had just seen a fabulous long and thin card created by my very talented friend Cathy Harper, and decided to give my card the same kind of look. If you want to take a look at some other Flourish with a bling products carried by Scrapbook Supplies Online, you can click HERE

The second card is a very clean one, with a focus on the banner with the word GIRL. I really like how this one turned out!

Remember, the March challenge is still on at Scrapbook Supplies Online, and you can get one of two 25$ gift certificates!

Hop, hop, hopping comes the Easter bunny!

If you are here for the March giveaway,

A Martha Stewart bundle which contains: 12 neon glitter (4.4 oz. each),12 hexagonal glitter (.3 oz. each), 12 iridescent vintage leaf glitter (.14 oz. each) and 12 glittered flocking powder (.077 oz. each). The retail value of the bundle is around $80.

This house is ready for Easter! My daughter started school again last Monday, only to find out that a HUGE number of kids were sick from a new virus that causes lots of fever, and her doctor advised we should keep her at home at least for this week, so she's back at home. Of course, now she is at home but she is feeling fine and has LOTS of energy, plus she is really bored from so many weeks without any friends, so it has not been the easiest of weeks... In the end, we started with her birthday party planning (months ahead) and planning the Easter egg hunt that her class will have next week. I will be going to the class with some mums before the trip to help the kids make baskets to put their eggs in, so we are getting all that ready (the bunny and ducky baskets will look so pretty!). I also want to make some cupcakes for them, and to make them look pretty I created some cupcake wrapper baskets I will show you later on. But first, a fifteen minute Easter layout!

corrugated

This was so easy to make! I just cut two paper strips, put some tulle and ribbon above (Can't see the tulle? I'll show a close-up below), and used almost the whole pack of these cute Imaginisce embellies to decorate. No, it is not the latest and bestest in scrapbooking design, but it came together in a few minutes and my daughter just loves it! Here is a close up of the tulle under the ribbon, a very girly touch:

And now the cupcake wrappers. To make them, I printed out this template, and added a handle, ribbons and embellies. They really look cute, and can be filled with a cupcake with green frosting and a couple of eggs, like the one in the front, or simply little eggs, like the ones in the back.

There are a ton of Easter projects at Practical Scrappers today, so if you are looking for inspiration, you'll surely find it there! And, if you have some time, could let me know if you are planning any Easter crafts? Would love to take a peek!

Pretty girly layouts

If you are here for the March giveaway,

A Martha Stewart bundle which contains: 12 neon glitter (4.4 oz. each),12 hexagonal glitter (.3 oz. each), 12 iridescent vintage leaf glitter (.14 oz. each) and 12 glittered flocking powder (.077 oz. each). The retail value of the bundle is around $80.

As promised, here are the layouts I've created this month for Scrapbook Supplies Online, using Echo Park's This and That Graceful collection. And of course, having such pretty girly papers inspired me to create pretty girly layouts. The first layout was inspired by a layout I've seen somewhere and I thought I'd pinned, but was not in my scrapbooking board. I love, love, love the huge banner, and had to create a version of it myself.

The other two layouts have baby photos, and with them, I have officially finished the 0-6 months photo album.... 5 years too late? Well, better late than never, and I am happy to have a finished album at last!!!! The second layout was very simple to create, I saw the patterned paper with rectangular die cuts, and instead of cutting them, decided to use them as the base for a layout. Love how that turned out! The pictures were not great, but I still wanted to keep the memories of the walks in our complex carrying our daughter in her "moti" and our favourite restaurant there, where we spent lots of time until it was closed (and that's the only pic I have of it).

The third layout has one of my favourite pictures, our daughter with the lady that was then her babysitter. On that day, she carried her on her back, African way (though women do the same thing in Peru, and my mother-in-law carried my husband on her back, so it's sort of keeping family tradition over two different continents!!!!). Even though we have both moved from Libya for different reasons, we still keep in touch with her, because she is a lovely person, and I am happy I finally have this very important picture in my daughter's album. This way she will always remember the person who first took care of her, read her stories and played with her, apart from mom and dad.

And I had fun creating a little step-by-step video of how I put this layout together. It is only one minute long, so it won't take much of your time. Hope you enjoy it!!!

If you have already fallen in love with this fabulous collection, you can find it HERE. I will be coming back with some cards using the same collection next week, don't forget to come and have a look!

I have just seen one of my birthday cards published at Scrapstreet.com's Mini Mag March issue. I love that card and it was a pleasure to see it there! If you'd like to take a peek, you can click HERE.

Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving such sweet comments, you always make my day!

A little handbag of love!

As I mentioned in one previous post, I was very lucky to be sent Echo Park's This and That Graceful Collection to play with by Scrapbook Supplies Online. I have created several layouts and cards, but I don't want to share everything at once, there's too much yumminess in this collection, so we need to enjoy it little by little!!!! The first thing I created was a box. I have seen so many fabulous boxes created by the talented Mara from Love Your Mother lately, that I couldn't resist temptation. With such a girly collection, I knew my box had to be a girly one, so I turned it into a handbag.

I initially found a template HERE, but my printer refused to work on that day, so I ended up drawing the handbag myself. And boy did I have fun! I decorated it with some leftover trim I had (I love this trim and I am so sorry to see it gone!) plu stickers, chipboard, and brads from the same collection. I added some twine and flowers that also came with my Scrapbook Supplies Online box, filled the box with some tulle and chocolates, and I have a spirit-lifter for whenever a friend is in need. Wouldn't you immediately feel a little bit better if you got a handbag full of chocolates on a bad day?
If you are getting tempted by this beautiful collection, remember Scrapbook Supplies Online has the whole collection available right now. Will be back with more yummy stuff tomorrow!

Got batteries?

If you are here for the March giveaway,

A Martha Stewart bundle which contains: 12 neon glitter (4.4 oz. each),12 hexagonal glitter (.3 oz. each), 12 iridescent vintage leaf glitter (.14 oz. each) and 12 glittered flocking powder (.077 oz. each). The retail value of the bundle is around $80.

I can't believe how many batteries we use at home. Including our cameras, plus remote controls, plus toys (just remote control Lighting Mc Queen takes 8 batteries!), we use a large number every week. This is why we've been using rechargeable batteries for a long time. The problem is, we used to have them on the kitchen counter, sometimes for days (when you have three, you need the fourth one to be ready to charge all four at the same time), and one of us always ended up putting them back in the drawer, where they mixed with the fully charged ones. Recipe for disaster. On the day we have a school activity or a party or we see that spontaneous photo we (I) need to take at that very second, the batteries we have put in the camera are not charged, and the camera dies on us. Every time. Then I go to the back up batteries I have in the carrier pocket (am I smart or what?)... only to find out they are not charged either. So, I have decided to put an end to this problem by creating a container for used batteries I can put in my kitchen. And since my kitchen is really white, I decided to add a touch of colour at the same time.

I bought a very cheap plastic container and covered it with laminated fabric (actually some scraps I had left from a tablecloth I made for our garden table). I then copied the fabric's beautiful fruit designs and pieced them in cardstock. Everything's covered in modge pogde to make it last longer. I added rhinestones, a brad, and twine, and I have a used battery container and a little touch of colour in the kitchen!!!!

Cupcake wars!

Well, no, not a war, but I couldn't resist the temptation to call my post so! My daughter loves Cupcake Wars, she says it is a "mommy and little daughter" show, and we watch it together if we ever find it earlier in the day. What I created is simply a shaped cupcake card. I was going to buy a cupcake shape from the Silhouette store (they have the cutest shaped cards) but I am working in my living room these days so I can be closer to my daughter (you should see the mess!) and as I didn't want to bring my Silhouette all the way here, I ended up drawing it myself:

I used My Little Shoebox paper, chipboard letters and flowers, some trim, and lots of glitter+pearlescent embossing powder. This card was created for Practical Scrappers' shaped cards feature; there are some fabulous shaped cards created by the DT and readers, go and have a look!

As I said in my previous post, I have signed up for Pinerly this weekend. To be honest, I am not really sure what it is, but it sounds interesting and I'd like to check it out. The only way to do it at the moment is to have friends click on your link, so if you are interested and have a few minutes to spare, please click HERE. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a very productive week!

If you saw this post yesterday and then came back and couldn't find it, it was not a trick of your imagination, but rather a trick of my iPad. I saw a typo in the title last night, and while I corrected it I somehow erased the whole post! So here I go again.

It was a scary week in our house, as our little daughter caught dengue fever, which you get byt being bitten by an infected mosquito. It is a disease we are not used to,it is dangerous, though not the first time you catch it, and she had so much fever for so many days we didn't know what to do. In fact, all we could do was sit next to her and try to comfort her. And wait. And wait. And wait some more. Anyway, she is feeling better now, she's not going to school yet to make sure she's strong enough to fight any bugs in the air, but she is having a great time at home!

Today I'd like to share with you the projects I created for this month's challenge at Scrapbook Supplies Online. The first one is a very simple layout, I flipped the sketch and converted some of the photos to sepia to match the page next to it in the album.

The second project is a card. This month's sketch had weaved paper strips, and I decided it would be a good idea to stitch the strips instead. It was very time consuming but it was something I could do while sitting next to my daughter watching yet another episode of My Little Pony! I really love how the stitching turned out.

Now I am back to scrapping I will soon have more projects to share with you, I am working with the This and That collection by Echo Park for Scrapbook Supplies Online and it is totally yummy, so I can't wait to share my projects with you. If you want a chance to win one of two 25$ gift certificates, upload your projects based on this month's sketches to the gallery.

I have signed up for Pinerly this weekend. To be honest, I am not really sure what it is, but it sounds interesting and I'd like to check it out. Welcome to the Practical Scrappers "Linking with Love" Blog Hop!  If you have come from Michelle Roycroft's blog, you are in the right place. If you are not, and you'd like to take part in this hop, please visit Practical Scrappers.

We believe it is important to always give credit when it is due to another crafter.  For this unique hop all of our design team members used the same inspiration piece to create their project.  Each of them will make an example of themselves as to how to properly "Link with Love" and credit the inspiration.  We'll be running the hop thru Noon EST on Sunday - so you have plenty of time to get thru it!

Liz Qualman created this beautiful layout and we have all used it for inspiration.  Each of us will tell what part we took our inspiration from.  The whole hop will culminate at Liz's blog where she'll provide us with a new sketch for inspiration.

Last Saturday, my five year old daughter, one of the youngest in her Kindergarten class, woke up and wrote a complete story (in English, which is not even her language) which she then illustrated, book covers and all! In order to do so, she first made a draft (she's got a very good teacher, so she is well trained!!!) and then created a book. As any proud mom, I wanted to keep that book somewhere where it wouldn't get lost, but could not scrap all of it, and didn't want to cut it either. So, I asked her for her draft, and made a copy of her pictures to use as embellies. And included a pocket for the story behind my layout. The inspiration I got from Liz's layout is the colourful circles, which I placed in the bottom half, and the general happy feel of the whole layout. Here is my layout:
