Believe

Last week's card challenge at the Create:blog was to make a card using flowers made of gathered ribbon. Interesting challenge, it left so many open possibilities!

I based my card on a cardmap from the Pagemaps archive, and created three small flowers, and a bigger one with a lovely piece form the Parisian Anthology line in the centre. It is a simple design that makes the flowers pop out.

I was happy to see my card in the Create Gallery later in the week, among so many beautiful projects! If you want to have a look at them, click here

Patterned paper: Bella Boulevard

Bows Galore!!!

Today's Challenge Me Tuesday at Practical Scrappers features bows. I made a card with a bow, and inspired about and interview I've read at this month's Cards mag, I added a flower to the bow, a brad to the centre of the flower, and some bling to the brad. Embellish, embellish, embellish!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a simple card but I enjoyed making it, especially as it is not birthday themed and took me out from the birthday preparations for a little while.

List of supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Alpha stickers: Sassafrass
Wood Veneer Die-cuts: Studio Calico
Ribbon: Assorted
Flower: Prima
Brad: Basic Grey
Die-Cut: We are Memory Keepers
Bling: Assorted

I also made another bow for a LO, this time a paper bow. This LO is based on Let's Scrap sketch 6-29-11, a block sketch. Block LOs are something I really can't do, I struggle and struggle, and never get a result I like. Then I see other people's work and say "Why didn't I do that?". That happened to me this week. I made a double pager I hate (it has gone into the album, anyway, but I didn't want to take a picture of it). Then I decided to take only some elements from the sketch, and work from that. So I took the three pics (that I turned into three columns of pics), the line with an embellishment below the pics and the title and an embellishment on top of the pics. And this is the result.

It is a LO about the things DD liked and disliked at 4.8 years of age. I made the paper bow from this fabulous tutorial here

List of supplies:
Patterned paper: Crate Paper, Pebbles
Dimensional Stickers: Pebbles
Letter stickers: American Crafts
Brads: eyelet outlet, Pebbles
Rhinestones: Darice
Glue: Glue Glider Pro
Markers: Staetdler

And more butterflies!

Practical Scrappers continues with the butterfly theme; today it's the time for layouts. With so many butterfly embellies around, I'm sure there will be lots of submissions from both DT and readers! My LO is based on a old pencillines sketch, though I don't remember its number:

I don't usually like using butterflies and flowers on layouts about DH, but this one was actually about this fabulous house we rented during our holidays, in Saltaro, Sweden, so I never paid attention to the fact that only DH was in the pic!

Ribbon flowers at Let's Scrap

This week's DT Challenge at Let's Scrap was to create a card or LO using three different kinds of handmade flowers. What a fun challenge to work on. I decided to create three very different ribbon flowers, and this is the result:

And here is what they look like on the card:

I think it's the kind of card that could make any day brighter!

Rainbow card

So many rainbows around these days, I couldn't help creating my own. I've seen gorgeous glitter rainbows, patterned paper rainbows, even butterfly rainbows! Mine is a ribbon rainbow. I didn't want to add much else to the card, the rainbow was enough, so I just added the phrase "make a wish" below it.

The ribbon rainbow looks yummy in a close-up, doesn't it:

There are lots of rainbow projects coming soon at Pratical Scrappers; don't forget to have a look!

Live laugh love - Be happy!

"Live laugh love - be happy" is the sentiment in this card I created for challenge 86 at Let's Scrap. The challenge was to use a transparency, paint on the back side, and print on the front. I can't print on my transparencies as the ones I have are for the wrong sort of printer and I haven't found the right ones since I moved, so I used rub-ons instead.
I'm having fun making matching envelopes for my cards, and I think this will also help them sell better, so here is the envelope for this one. It is simple, but I like the finished touch it gives to the card/envelope set.

Let's Scrap - Sketch 8-25-10

And here is the complete layout. I have had these photos cropped and ready for a layout for over two years, so I couldn't believe it when I saw the sketch, they were just right! Almost everything in the layout came from one of the last kits I got from the Scraproom Blog, and a lovely, yummy, yummy bag of assorted ribbons and embellies I thought would never make it to Tripoli on time but has arrived!
