Let's Scrap - Sketch 6-30-10

What a beautiful sketch! Loved working on it, and loved using the new fabrics I've just received. I couldn't make the bubbles in the photo loook as delicate as they do on the layout itself, though.... :(

Here's a close-up of the bubbles, I insist they look much better in real life!

And this is a detail of the border, I punched holes and made cuts in it to give it the appearence of paper torn from a notebook, as in the sketch. I like the final result.

And, in case you haven't guessed already, the title means BUBBLES! :)

Mission Completion!!!

"What was the mission?" you may ask. Taking pictures of my daughter playing with her Little Einteins toys. It took longer than I expected for her to forget I was trying to do it and start playing naturally, but I think we managed to do it in the end. These were her playmates:

This is something I've been meaning to scrap for a long time, as she loves these toys, but I never got to take the pictures. Now, I finally got to do it for Practical Scrappers' challenge for the week after next... what will it be? Can you guess? Hard to guess from the picture, it could be anything! Just keep visiting Practical Scrappers and you'll soon find out!

Flowers, flowers, and more flowers at Practical Scrappers

The challenge at Practical Scrappers this week was to use flowers, and I decided to get rid of some flowers I have had in my stash for a long time and have not used yet. I added some new ones, too, just because I couldn't resist the temptation to use them! I couldn't put them all together in a layout, as they were too different, so instead I used them to embellish altered clips/photo holders.

And I couldn't stop there, I had to alter the whole pack of clips, so I used robots, monsters and butterflies as well:

I sold them at the crafts fair and not only did they sell very quickly, they also caught people's eye and made them stop at the stand, so then they looked at other things like cards and minialbums. A very good result!

Crazy about notebooks!

I've only just discovered notebooks are a very easy way to work on a sketch, plus, they look absolutely yummy. I made this one for Let's Scrap's sketch 6-16-10:

And this one for Practical Scrappers' June 11 sketch:

I love the way they look, and I think they's make great presents, so I will probably work on a new notebook next time I have a present to give. No better present than spending time making a gift for someone you love!

I'm back!!!!!!!!!

We are back from our holiday, relaxed, and with a million new pictures to scrap!!! Just a couple to share with you:

This was a few hours before leaving on our holiday, my friend Soledad and I had a stand in a fair, she was selling delicious things and I was selling yummy crafts. We did very well although the temperature was above 45 C/113F!!!

And here we were already enjoying our holiday, beginning at Legoland Windsor! This is the photo I choose for Aleida's challenge for the month of June. We took a lot more during the holiday, but this was so much fun that it is my favourite one!!!

I have lots of new projects from both Let's Scrap and Practical Scrappers to post, so you may find a lot of new posts next time you visit... in the meantime, I need to start scrapping!!!!

Let's Scrap - Sketch 6-9-10

Time for another sketch at Let's Scrap, and this is a great one! I've been wanting to do a circle wreath for a long time, and this sketch gave me the chance to do it! Here is my layout:

LOVE those circles, but the design team has come up with lots of very creative alternatives, have a look at them at Let's Scrap!

Candy alert!

I really enjoyed the NSD blog hop and challenges last month, and all the lovely comments everybody left, so I decided to have a new giveaway in June. I will post it on Thursday 10th, but I can give you some clues, to keep you thinking... the giveaway question has to do with brads... the prize, too... come back for more clues tomorrow!

New look

I decided it was time for a new look before I got too used to the old one, which would make it very difficult to change it in the future. After a very difficult hour (so many beautiful backgrounds and headers and buttons at Shabby Blogs make it SOOOOOOOOO hard to pick one) I think I finally have the new look - might change my mind tomorrow, though. Please, leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Practical Scrappers - Acrylic, Transparencies, or Vellum

I wanted to create a very simple layout for the photo I chose for this challenge, as it is a photo I love and I wanted it to be the most important thing in this page. The layout is based on a Pencillines sketch.

I printed word clouds in a transparency (thanks, Rosalie, for the idea) to use as a background, and added a little tulle flower with some glitter and a few pins.

Visit Practical Scrappers to participate in this challenge, the bonus challenge or the sketch challenge, which has a prize now!

Gotas - Let's Scrap Sketch 06-02-10

Late for posting this week's layout for Let's Scrap, too much work for the crafts fair next Friday! This week's sketch included a mushroom, and Cheri asked if we could use mushrooms in our layouts. I didn't have any at home so I started looking at mushroom images in Etsy, to get an idea of what I wanted to do. I finally paper-pieced this mushroom set, which l like a lot.

So now I had the background cardstock, the photos, the mushrooms... and no idea wha else to do!!!!!!!!!!  I did have some fantastic new paper from my monthly Scraproom kit, and I decided to do some fussy cutting, and then started adding beads, then some more beads... and I couldn't stop!!!

And this is the final result, a layout called Gotas (Drops). The subtitle reads: a few drops are enough when you have a new umbrella!!! (as you can see in the pictures, it was not raining, just cloudy, but my daughter could not wait to use her new umbrella and raincoat!).

Don't forget to visit Let's Scrap and take part in this challenge!

Question of the day II

Hi! Early in the morning (still night for many of you), had to take my daughter to school today! Today's questions for Practical Scrappers QOTD are:

Do you have a blog? If you don't, have you considered starting one? If you do, how often do you update it? Do you enjoy writing in your blog or is it another chore?

I started my blog long before I started scrapbooking, just a short time after we moved to Libya. It was called Permanent Movement and I used it mainly to communicate with family and friends and let them know about our new life here. Then, I started using Facebook and forgot about the blog. Some months ago, I re-named it and re-started it as Scrapping Nomad. So far, I'm enjoying it a lot, there aren't many scrappers around here and I love talking to other people about scrapbooking.
