FLY AWAY, KITE
This is my first layout as a Let's Scrap DT.
There's lots of stitching in it: the kite threads, the doodles on the patterned paper, the letters, the clouds. It is time consuming to hand stitch all over the layout, but I always like the results. I wanted the clouds to be different so for each cloud I cut three clouds in slightly different sizes and different patterned papers, inked them, played a little bit with the borders, and stitched them.
I didn't have any vintage paper for the kite, so I had to make my own by creasing some kraft paper and photocopying a dictionary page on it!

FANTASTIC BLOG CANDY
I had some minutes to spare today (I was actually trying to take some time from the 450 words I wrote for Amy Sorensen's AMAZING Textuality workshop at BPS- it helps me if I read the text back after a few minutes doing sth different) and I went through the blogs I follow. Big surprise when I found two FANTASTIC blog candy giveaways! Just click on the links on the right. Hurry up, you REALLY don't want to miss them!!!
While you are there, spend some time looking at the blogs, they are both worth it.

Double yipee!!!!!!!
I consider myself a very lucky person, but this is a particularly lucky week! I woke up this morning, still so happy to be part of the new Let's Scrap Design Team, and I found out I have also been selected as a Design Team member for Practical Scrappers!!!
I am new to Practical Scrappers, but I like the concept behind the site, the idea that you don't need to buy the latest materials or include only the hottest trends, just enjoy what you are doing and record those memories before they fade in time!
I am thrilled to be working with both teams, I am going to be a very busy but very happy scrapper for the next few months!

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited
Let me share a great piece of news with you. I have been invited to join the new Design Team at Let's Scrap. I am thrilled! Let's Scrap was the first community I joined and, even though I enjoy doing challenges from other communities this is where I feel at home. I submitted my layout for the DT call, but I've seen so many great layouts there I didn't have much hope. I really can't describe how happy I am!!!

Scraproom Blog - Week #15
Monday morning means scrapbooking with a couple of good friends, something I always look forward to. I usually do the Scraproom Blog challenge during these crops, as the deadline for me is Monday afternoon (the time difference helps me in this case!). This week's sketch was great.
I made the flower accent with Prima flowers (at least I think they are, I got them in a Scraproom Flavour of the Month kit some time ago and I lost the page with the details!). Don't you just love the flower with the little frog? SO cute.

Favourite layouts
This morning I spent some time going through old "questions of the week" at Let's Scrap - you never know what might give you inspiration, it needn't always be a sketch! One of them asked what was my favourite layout ever. My immediate answer was: "impossible to say." So many different scrapbooking moments and styles and I like each layout because of so many different reasons I just can't make up my mind.
But only a couple of hours later I was putting finished layouts in albums (which I hate and so layouts get piled up before I finally do it) and I found this one:
It's still not my absolute favourite; if I looked I might find others I like better, but it is probably in the top ten. I like the style and the colours, but most of all I like the journalling. I did it for a Let's Scrap challenge in which you had to journal about what you felt when you saw the photograph, not the activity in the photograph itself. It gave me the perfect excuse to write about the two people I love most in the whole world and the relationship between them. Something to treasure.
The Layout is based on sketch ls107 from Let's Scrap.

Good and bad news, but only one layout!!!!
This morning I woke up with a couple of objectives in mind.
1) Create a layout for Let's Scrap sketch 5-7-10.
2) Use my brand new heat embossing ZAP tool. I bought the tool with a set of embossing powders a few months ago in a steal from Crafty Steals, and I only realised I needed embossing inks once the tool got home and I read the instructions. So I had to wait for a few more months until a friend travelled to the States and got me the ink. Today, everything was ready to start heat embossing!
Since all the birthday patterned papers I had were VERY busy, I decided to create my own embossing some birthday stamps on plain cardstock. I cut the cardstock, stamped and powdered the designs and turned on my heat tool. After less than a minute, it stopped working. I had forgotten the voltage difference! I know the US has 110 and we have 220, and I have an adaptor for other appliances, but for a fatal minute it slipped my mind. Even the plastic began to melt! Bye, bye brand new heat-embossing tool. And now it may be months until I get a new one... that was, of course, the bad news.
And here is the layout:
The good news is that while I was looking for a way to make the candle flames, I started playing around with some leftover crepe paper strips from a previous layout (they were still on my work table - oh, the mess on that table!) and discovered that by twisting the crepe paper strips you can make something that looks like yarn but is much softer and easier to work with. I made fabulous candles with the yarn and also used it to "sow" a circle around the title! I have been thinking of many uses, and, considering crepe paper is one of the few materials I can buy in a local shop, I will definitely use this technique again in the future! Here's a closer look at my candles, aren't they cute?

Big Picture Scrapbooking
I've been looking for some online scrapbooking courses; I'd like to learn some new techniques or find new challenges. I've just signed up at Big Picture Scrapbooking, they seem to have some very interesting projects and courses. I'll start with with one of their many free self-paced projects and see if I like it. I hope it is what I'm looking for!!!

This was a great sketch, so easy to work with!!!
I love these pictures from a visit to the History Museum in Stockholm. We had so much fun playing Viking games and dressing up!

No internet
We have had no internet for over 10 days, which I find frustrating and liberating at the same time! Lots of scrapbooking, but I have so much to catch up with that I don't think I'll ever manage to upload everything. First things first, here is April's photo for Aleida's challenge, taken at an Easter-egg-painting event last Saturday.
